Got Milk?

At first, I absolutely hated breast feeding. If I wasn't feeding I was massaging my boobs to hopefully reduce the blocked milk ducts to finally get a decent nights sleep! Ha! Next joke. I realised shortly after seeing the plus sign on my pregnancy test that it was the end of getting a good nights sleep for at least 18 years. Goodbye beauty sleep, hello world of permanent dark circles and pajama days.
The first week of breastfeeding feels like 10,000,000 needles constantly stabbing in your nipples for about 30 mins at a time. Obviously a new born needs to feed very frequently so 2 hours of healing and then 30 more mins of pain. And you would have thought that we've already been through enough!
At this point I was beginning to wonder who even invented babies anyway...
I promise, that agony only lasts for about a week. After that, it's a walk in the park! Oh, but don't go to the park because if you even hear a baby cry, game over, get home. And a milk filled bra later.... nightmare!
Joking aside, breast feeding becomes extremely rewarding. Knowing that your body is producing the nutrition and food that your baby needs is amazing. No one else can do that but you. Plus, it's free.
My advice: If you can push through, do it! If you can't, don't worry! SO many mums are pressured to breastfeed nowadays; you need to do what is right for you and what fits with your routine. A happy mummy= a happy baby, whether it's formula or boob!
